For nearly 70 years, McMurphy Homes has been building more than houses—we’ve been building a family legacy rooted in craftsmanship, community, and relationships that last for generations.
The story began in 1955 when AJ McMurphy Sr. founded McMurphy Homes and McMurphy Real Estate in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Two years later, his son, AJ McMurphy Jr., joined the business, and together they helped shape communities throughout Louisiana and the Mississippi Gulf Coast, developing neighborhoods like Broadmoor in Baton Rouge and Ancient Oaks in Biloxi that are still cherished today.
AJ “Bo” McMurphy grew up immersed in the family business, learning the industry from the ground up before spending decades leading homebuilding operations across the country. Today, Bo continues the family tradition—strengthening McMurphy Homes’ presence along the Mississippi Gulf Coast while guiding the company’s expansion into the Raleigh, North Carolina area.
Bo’s son, Mac (AJ McMurphy IV), represents the fourth generation of McMurphy homebuilders. After growing up on job sites and gaining experience both inside and outside the industry, Mac returned full time to help lead the next chapter of the company alongside his father.
And if you happen to see Mac’s three young boys tagging along at the office or visiting job sites, you’re catching a glimpse of the fifth generation already getting an early start.
At McMurphy Homes, building homes isn’t just what we do—it’s who we are. It’s family. It’s community. And it’s a legacy we’re proud to continue with every home we build.
